A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR LITTLETON PUBLIC SCHOOLS BALLOT 4C MILL LEVY QUESTION
WHEREAS, the South Suburban Park and Recreation District (the “District”) is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado and a duly organized and existing special district pursuant to Title 32, Article 1, C.R.S.; and
WHEREAS, the Littleton Public Schools Board of Education has decided to place a Ballot Question on the November 3, 2020 Ballot asking voters to approve a $12 Million tax increase to address state budget cuts; and
WHEREAS, South Suburban Park and Recreation District believes that this effort is an important and positive step for the Littleton School District Community because:
It will allow Littleton Public Schools (LPS) to continue to attract and retain quality teachers;
Maintain school counseling for mental health and suicide prevention;
Provide career, technology, and skilled trade classes that equip students with real world job skills such as health care, computer science and trades.
WHEREAS, the Colorado Fair Campaign Practices Act expressly authorizes local governments to adopt and distribute in normal fashion a Resolution regarding any issue of importance to that local government.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the South Suburban Park and Recreation District as follows:
- The Board does express its strongest possible support for Ballot 4C Mill Levy Question, as will be placed before the voters by Littleton Public Schools for a November 3, 2020 decision.
